Tasting Notes:
Seductive pear and melon fruit aromas and a hint of mineral compliment an intriguing floral character. The crisp, balanced mouth feel is filled with flavors of mixed melon, green pear, and an elusive herbal quality characteristic of the white wines from this vineyard.

The surprisingly long finish of melon, pears, and spice is enhanced by the typical crisp acidity found in high elevation Sauvignon Blanc.

Winemaker’s Notes:
This is a single vineyard wine from the high elevation vineyard of Arete`, just east of the Wahluke Slope AVA in the Columbia Valley. The site offers very warm daytime temperatures and extremely cool nights giving the white wines a crispness that lingers after the nice ripe fruit character.

This wine was fermented in stainless steel at a fairly cool temperature, preserving the slightly herbal, ripe melon character. It spent a few months in older French oak barrels to soften the mouthfeel, and was bottled in August of 2008. 200 cases made..
