Von Buhl Spatburgunder rated top by Decanter Magazine

Reichsrat Von Buhl Spatburgunder 2008 was listed as one of Giles MacDonogh TOP WINES in his recent review of pinots from Germany.

“Sealing wax and stawberries on an attractive Pinot Noir nose. Decent, light fruit on the palate, with a cherry, chocolate and coffee flavours. Soft strawberry finish. Drink 2012-2013.”

Giles MacDonogh blind tasted a selection of UK available German Pinot Noirs and sang the praises of this little red grape that has sat in the shadow of Riesling for too long.

“German wine might be synonymous with Riesling for many, but Pinot Noir is now a worthy contender in terms of both plantings and popularity” says Giles MacDonogh    THANK YOU GILES!

Congratulations to Reichsrat Von Buhl who won bronze for their 2009 Forster Kirchenstuck Riesling Gross Gewachs and Silverado Vineyards who scooped a prestigous pair of bronze and gold for their Solo Cabernet Sauvignon and Estate Cabernet Sauvignons respectively, both 2008 vintage.  Well done again!

Clinton Cawood was joined by a sommelier panel to blind taste dry Rieslings from the best producers across the globe and the panel highlighted our Reichsrat Von Buhl QBA Trocken 2009 as one of the best. Coming second in it’s class against a more premium priced wine, the Von Buhl QbA Trocken is described as giving “great value and versatility and therefore would appeal to any list.”

Comments from on trade buyers on the judging panel included;

“charming nose,with ripe stone fruit and a touch of chamomile. The palate is more linear”, PB (Paulo Brammer, ETM Group)

Happy Valentine’s – Who is ‘Ravenous for Riesling’ today?!

The “Ravenous for Riesling” tasting panel highlights Von Buhl as one of their favourite wines!

With a focus on quality not quantity, Robert Giorgione set about organising a tasting with a selection of 75 Reislings from all over the world. With high calibre wines and a respected line up of tasters, expectations for this event were high.  Von Buhl achieved excellent marks and comments from the tasters and was also listed in Robert Giorgiones personal list of his top 5 wines.

Von Buhl in the FT Top 100 List – AGAIN!

Many thanks once again to Jancis Robinson, who listed a Von Buhl wine for the second time in this series, which features her top choice of wines for 2010.

This time was the turn of our Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Auslese 2009, described by Jancis as “a particularly open young Auslese that is truly expressive of its provenance: grapefruit syrup plus terroir and great zest”. Read more
