Three Trophies for Martin Alsina

This year Martin Alsina, Finca La Chamiza’s icon wine, crowned its 2007 vintage with the following trophies: Malbec Trophy, Argentinean Red Trophy and Mendoza Trophy.

The judges described it as “nose of roasted hazelnuts and strawberries with strong plum overtones. The palate is chocolaty with rich smokiness and mulberry, plum fruits. Ripe but persistent tannins and silky round texture round off the wine (…)”.

With more than 45,000 wines and spirits registered this year, the International Wine Challenge has positioned itself as the best and most influential wine competition in the world. Year after year, the number of contestants increases and only a few reach the highest distinction.

The IWC trophies are chosen at the final round of the competition from those wines that have won gold medals. Once achieving  distinction, the wines are sampled again by an small group that determines if they are worthy of receiving a trophy.

Martín Alsina’s production is very small. It is a high quality product, and only a small amount goes to the domestic market and the rest to foreign markets. The grapes are from old vines from Luján de Cuyo, with more than 100 years old.
