John Downes hits the jackpot with our Paradise Point Chardonnay

John Downes’ recent column partnered food and wine and focused on matching a wine to a fig and almond loaf. He admits that he had to do a lot of tasting before he hit the jackpot…a rich chardonnay was the answer, and we are delighted that the Paradise Point Chardonnay made the match.

John writes “The Paradise point Chardonnay is a rich Californian from the monterey coast, south of San Francisco, where the vineyards are cooled by sea breezes, the wine is bursting with citrus and tropical fruits to bring the very best from the loaf. The winemaker notes state that not using oak barrels lets the true chardonnay character dominate the flavors”.

John is happy that gone are the days when winemakers were happy to let oak flavours dominated the wine and states,

”Most winemakers are now finding a happier balance between the wood and the fruit” and “as with most things in life, including food and wine matching, balance is the key”.

So try Paradise point and be surprised, why not have a go at food matching and let us know the results.
